The New Tom Price Hospital redevelopment marks a transformative investment in regional Western Australia's healthcare infrastructure. This purpose-built facility is designed to meet the evolving needs of the local community, delivering comprehensive, high-quality care in a modern and efficient environment.
The New Tom Price Hospital is being delivered in partnership between the State Government and Rio Tinto, which has committed $20 million towards the project.
At the heart of the redevelopment is a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, equipped to handle a wide spectrum of medical situations. It will feature spaces for critical care, urgent medical needs, subacute care and mental health.
The hospital will also include a four-bed inpatient ward, offering short-term accommodation for patients requiring observation or recovery. This compact yet functional ward ensures continuity of care while maintaining a personal and comfortable setting.
Making everyday health services more accessible, including dental care, pathology, physiotherapy and child health care, all under one roof.
Supporting physical and emotional recovery and wellbeing through dedicated spaces for group therapy, physiotherapy and mental health.
Bringing world-class emergency care closer to home, with treatment spaces designed to handle everything from urgent injuries to mental health assessments to ensure families can get help fast.
Creating a comfortable and private experience for patients, with modern consult and interview rooms that support respectful, confidential care.
Improving behind-the-scenes operations, with upgraded kitchen, linen and supply services that help staff deliver smoother, more reliable care.
Boosting local jobs and opportunities, with construction and hospital operations creating employment for the community and supporting local businesses.
Beyond emergency and inpatient services, the facility integrates contemporary primary care amenities. Specialist services and supporting infrastructure are also embedded within the design, including rooms for pathology collection and dental treatment. This will enable residents to access essential diagnostics and oral health services locally, reducing the need for travel to distant centres.
This redevelopment is more than a construction project, it’s a commitment to the health and resilience of the Tom Price community. By combining advanced medical facilities with thoughtful design, the new hospital will empower clinicians, support families, and elevate the standard of care for years to come.
The New Tom Price Hospital will provide modern healthcare services for the Pilbara community.
