The Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery is delivering critical infrastructure to support Western Australia’s emergency services sector, centred on the development of the New State Emergency Management Training Centre for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES).

This complex, high-value project will provide a modern, purpose-built facility to replace the state’s existing Fire and Emergency Services Academy.

The new centre will support training for an expanded range of emergency hazards, providing realistic and immersive training environments that reflect the evolving nature and increasing complexity of hazards now occurring in Western Australia.

The facility will increase capacity to meet DFES training requirements and support the full scope of the state’s Emergency Management responsibilities across all hazards, accommodating growing sector-wide training demand from DFES employees and volunteers, partner state agencies, and the broader Emergency Management sector.

The WA Government has reinforced its commitment to strengthening emergency services capability through sustained investment in training and infrastructure, including early funding to plan and develop a new state-of-the-art training academy.

The New State Emergency Management Training Centre will play a central role in building capability, strengthening collaboration, and supporting safer, more resilient communities across Western Australia.
