Project overview
Acacia Prison is a medium-security facility for adult male prisoners and is located in Wooroloo, Western Australia.
The Acacia Prison Expansion is designed to provide purposeful accommodation, activities and amenities for the prison population with a focus on creating job pathways and connections to community. The facilities will adequately support the health and wellbeing of prisoners and staff and support longevity and operating life cycles of the expansion’s infrastructure systems, equipment and service delivery.
The Acacia Prison Expansion includes the design and construction of three new accommodation units containing up to 480 beds, a support services building and industries building. The expansion site is adjacent to the existing prison.
The expansion is part of the Department of Justice’s Long-Term Custodial Infrastructure Plan 2025-35.

Modification and upgrade works to the southern security entrance to improve movement between the expansion zone and the wider prison and emergency access.
Secure perimeter
Expansion of the secure perimeter fence line to create a secure compound.
Upgrades
Upgrades to site and security infrastructure connecting the expansion precinct to the existing prison facility.
Landscaping
Soft and hard landscaping.
Car parks
Extension to the existing staff and visitor on-site car parks.
