The purpose-built Aboriginal Cultural Centre will promote and celebrate Aboriginal arts and cultural practice, strengthening cultural identity and supporting health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal peoples.
It will provide a statewide platform to showcase living Aboriginal cultures from across Western Australia. This vision is being realised through strong partnership between the WA Government and Aboriginal communities.
The Centre will feature a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces for art, performance, education, research, community and commercial activities while also contributing to the diversification of the WA economy.
The first dedicated space in Boorloo (Perth) for Aboriginal peoples to share their stories, history and lived experiences, fostering truth-telling, healing and reconciliation.
Situated on Whadjuk Noongar land beside the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River), the Centre will be part of a new Cultural Precinct, seamlessly integrated with Supreme Court Gardens and Perth Concert Hall, enhancing accessibility and visibility.
Showcasing living culture, integrating art, dance, performance and storytelling in a holistic and interconnected way that reflects Aboriginal cultural practices.
Economic empowerment by supporting Aboriginal-led businesses in tourism, hospitality and the arts, the Centre will create employment, training and commercial opportunities for Aboriginal communities across WA.
Community connection through purpose-built spaces to support cultural gatherings, meetings and workshops, including spaces for Elders, men’s and women’s groups and Prescribed Body Corporate meetings to strengthen community ties.
