A major milestone has been reached in the Bunbury Regional Hospital Redevelopment, with completion of the new Mental Health Observation Area and upgraded fast-track area.
Located alongside the Emergency Department, the new Mental Health Observation Area will provide a dedicated space for assessment, observation, and short-term treatment.
The facility features six bedrooms with private ensuites, including two fully accessible rooms, as well as dedicated lounge and dining areas and a culturally inclusive courtyard designed to support patient wellbeing, safety, and recovery.
The upgraded fast-track area is designed to help improve patient flow and access to care, providing a dedicated space to assess, treat and discharge non-acute, non-complex patients.
Services at Bunbury Regional Hospital continue while the redevelopment progresses, with works carefully staged to minimise disruption and maintain access to care for patients, visitors and staff.
Once complete, the Bunbury Regional Hospital Redevelopment will deliver:
- additional medical and intensive care beds
- an expanded Emergency Department
- increased operating theatre capacity
- new and expanded maternity, birthing and neonatal services.
The redevelopment will strengthen Bunbury Regional Hospital's role as a major healthcare hub for the South West and, once complete, will make it the largest regional hospital in Western Australia.
