A major milestone has been reached at Geraldton Health Campus, with the new Emergency Department now open to patients as part of the hospital's redevelopment.
The opening marks the first service to transition into the newly completed redevelopment, following extensive commissioning activities to prepare the new clinical spaces for patient care.
Additional services will progressively move into the new facilities over the coming months, including Community Mental Health, the Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit.
The redevelopment is also supporting an expanded workforce, with more than 120 new staff welcomed to the campus and recruitment continuing for additional positions.
Works are continuing on the new Radiation Oncology Unit and upgrades to renal dialysis treatment spaces, helping improve access to specialist healthcare services closer to home for Mid West communities.
