With a total investment of $290.5 million, the project represents the most significant commitment ever made to Western Australia’s screen sector. This includes $233.5 million for construction and $57 million for management and operations over the first 10 years, delivered through Perth-based company, Home Fire.
A studio built to create
Perth Film Studios features an impressive suite of facilities to support productions of all sizes, with:
- four purpose-built sound stages
- two annexes and workshops for set building and prop construction
- the largest backlot in the southern hemisphere
- office and administration spaces for production, hair and makeup, costume facilities, staff amenities and a theatre-style screening room.
The facility also celebrates local culture and creativity through public artworks by Aboriginal artists Lea Taylor and Buffie Punch. The artworks feature a striking entry statement and a yarning circle, drawing inspiration from Mia Mia shelters, water, fire and native banksia leaves to create a welcoming arrival for visitors, cast and film crews.
With the cameras ready to roll, Perth Film Studios is set to become a creative powerhouse-supporting storytellers, strengthening the screen industry and showcasing Western Australia to the world.
