Expanded emergency and mental health facilities have been delivered at Geraldton Health Campus following completion of the largest redevelopment of the campus in more than 20 years.
The $192 million redevelopment delivers a modernised, fit-for-purpose facility for the Geraldton and Mid West community that will reduce the need for patients to travel to Perth for treatment.
The upgraded Geraldton Health Campus now includes:
- an expanded Emergency Department with increased capacity
- an integrated mental health service, including a Mental Health Observation Area, Acute Psychiatric Unit and Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit
- the new Mid West Mental Health and Community Alcohol and Drug Service facility
- enhanced safety features, including interview rooms, isolation facilities and behavioural observation beds
- modern infrastructure and engineering updates to improve reliability, efficiency and sustainability across the campus.
The Emergency Department and Community Mental Health services are expected to welcome patients from August.
Work continues on the Mid West's first Radiation Oncology Unit. Once complete, the standalone facility will provide the region's first local radiation oncology service.
Construction of the redevelopment has also supported local businesses, with more than $19 million in contracts awarded across the Mid West.
