Designs unveiled for Osborne Park Hospital major expansion

17 November 2025

Designs for the major expansion of Osborne Park Hospital were unveiled in 2025, marking a major milestone in the transformation of this health facility and a significant boost for families in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The expansion is part of the $1.8 billion New Women and Babies Hospital Project that is set to significantly expand services and choice for women, newborns and families across Western Australia.

Modern, purpose-designed facilities focused on women and newborn health

The main clinical building is planned as a six-storey building and includes:

  • expanded women and newborn inpatient facilities
  • a mother baby unit to support the mental health of expectant and new mothers
  • a family birth centre
  • operating theatres
  • pharmacy
  • outpatient clinics.

For the first time, the hospital will have a mother baby unit, providing care for women experiencing mental health illness during pregnancy and in the period post-birth.

The hospital will also gain a new family birth centre, which will have its own independent entry separate to main hospital, providing a home-like environment and offering more birthing choices for women and families.

A four-storey building will also be constructed on-site to house support services for the entire campus, including a new kitchen, pathology and sterilisation services.

Early works for the major expansion also commenced during 2025 with construction planned to officially start in March 2026. Works on these facilities are expected to be completed in 2029.

Part of a broader investment in women and newborn facilities

The broader New Women and Babies Hospital Project also includes:

  • a new state-of-the-art Women and Babies Hospital within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct
  • new multi-deck car parks supporting future growth at the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct as it becomes home to the new Women and Babies Hospital
  • an expansion of neonatal services at Perth Children's Hospital.
