Design and construct contract awarded for Meekatharra Hospital and Albany Health Campus

A major milestone has been reached for the Albany Health Campus Expansion and Meekatharra Hospital Redevelopment with Hutchinson Builders awarded the design and construct contract for both projects.

Selected for its experience delivering modular health infrastructure in regional locations, Hutchinson Builders will partner with MODE Architecture to progress the projects through design and construction.

To help minimise disruptions to hospital operations and reduce construction timeframes, modular building components will be constructed off site, transported to each location and assembled on site.

The projects will deliver improved healthcare infrastructure and expanded capacity to support growing demand in regional communities.

Meekatharra Hospital Redevelopment will include:

  • a modern emergency department with three treatment spaces, a resuscitation bay and mental health assessment room
  • a new acute inpatient unit with five inpatient beds, including a bariatric bed and palliative care suite
  • new renal dialysis services.

Albany Health Campus Expansion will include:

  • a new 32-bed modular ward
  • a mix of single and twin-bed rooms
  • a dedicated bariatric room and isolation room to support a range of patient care needs.

Both projects form part of the WA Government's investment in regional health infrastructure, helping ensure communities can access high-quality care closer to home.
