Construction has commenced on the New Paraburdoo Hospital, marking a major milestone in the delivery of modern healthcare infrastructure for the Pilbara community.
Early works are now underway on site, including demolition of the northern hospital block, construction of the new hospital building ground pad and establishment of temporary parking facilities.
The new hospital will be built on the existing health service site, with access to the current hospital maintained throughout construction to ensure continuity of care for the local community.
Once complete, the New Paraburdoo Hospital will include:
- a new Emergency Department
- a two-bed Short Stay Unit
- integrated primary and community care services
- a private GP clinic.
Western Australia based builder, Cooper & Oxley, has been appointed to deliver works for the Paraburdoo Hospital under an Early Contractor Involvement procurement process.
Scheduled for completion in 2028, the new facility will provide modern healthcare services closer to home and meet the growing needs of Paraburdoo.
Rio Tinto has contributed $20 million towards the New Paraburdoo Hospital through its $250 million commitment to the Western Australian Government’s Resources Community Investment Initiative.
