Around 2,200 cubic metres of concrete – equivalent to more than two thirds of an Olympic-sized swimming pool – has been poured at the New Women and Babies Hospital Project site in Murdoch in May 2026.
The pour took place over more than 12 hours and involved three mobile concrete pumps delivering around 150 to 200 cubic metres of concrete an hour.
The massive pour, expected to be the largest single pour for the project, will help create a central foundation supporting the building's lifts and stairwells.
A number of tower cranes are also now on site.
A fleet of eight tower cranes will ultimately operate to enable a faster build program, supporting the planned opening of the hospital in 2029.
The landmark New Women and Babies Hospital Project is set to expand services and choice for women, newborns and families across Western Australia.
