The Bentley Health Service Surgicentre has reached an important milestone, with Cooper and Oxley awarded the forward works contract for the new facility.
The contract includes earthworks, in-ground services and the delivery of more than 300 staff and visitor car parking bays, helping prepare the site for construction of the new facility.
The Bentley Health Service Surgicentre will play an important role in increasing elective surgery capacity across Western Australia's public health system, helping reduce pressure on other hospitals while improving access to planned care closer to home.
Designed by Silver Thomas Hanley, the purpose-built facility will include:
• six operating theatres
• two procedure rooms
• a 24-bed surgical ward
• a day-stay unit with 42 patient bays and 15 discharge lounge spaces
• a new Central Sterilisation Services Department.
Jointly funded by the State and Federal governments, the $167 million facility is designed to support the efficient delivery of elective surgery across a range of specialties.
Once completed, the surgicentre will help separate elective surgery from emergency care, improving access to planned procedures and supporting reduced waiting times for patients.
